About us

Our mission is to transform the world of food by offering healthy, plant-based foods at a reasonable price.  Almost everything is made from scratch and we try to buy local and organic whenever possible.   We offer many gf and sf dishes for those with restricted diets.  We compost and/or recycle over 97% of our waste and all of our to-go containers are compostable.

Counter Culture's vision is inspired by an ethos that includes a desire to promote healthy living, a devotion to protecting the environment,

a heartfelt concern for animal welfare and a commitment to community participation.

Energizing tomorrow, guiding a healthier road ahead.

Our values:

Feed the planet.

Better food comes from a healthy planet, and we do our part.

Be flexible and make change work.

Do the right thing.

Put safety and integrity at the forefront of everything we do.

Empower each other and win as a team.

Our Pledge

We’ll do our part to promote equality, celebrate diversity, dismantle systemic racism, and support justice – from the inside out.

Supporting impacted Austin communities directly through our pay it forward food donation program.

We oppose racism - of any kind - and stand in solidarity with black communities and others who have been historically and continue to be under-represented and whose access to democracy has not been equal. Diversity and Inclusion are very much a core tenet of Counter Culture Restaurant.

Counter Culture offers meatless, dairy-free and raw foods – made from scratch – and offered at remarkably affordable prices. Whenever possible the restaurant procures organic, fair trade & locally grown food from area farmers. Sue and the Counter Culture team go to great lengths to reuse, recycle and compost.

Counter Culture offers daily specials, as well as a variety of appetizers, salads, sandwiches, plates & handmade desserts. In addition, the menu always has many oil free, gluten-free and soy-free options. Although vegan doesn’t always mean healthy, Counter Culture emphasizes nutritious, unprocessed foods.
